Frequently asked questions

Everything about searching, Premium and free listings — and why Look4Rent is not an agency.

Is Look4Rent a rental agency or broker?

No. Look4Rent is a search and listing platform. We show rental listings, but we are not a party to the tenancy agreement and never act on behalf of the landlord. We do not select, screen or rank candidates. You make arrangements directly with the landlord.

What do I pay for with Premium?

For access to the search platform: searching, seeing contact details and notifications about all listings. It is an ongoing service to you as a tenant, and explicitly not an agency fee, registration fee or contract fee. It is not linked to one specific home or to signing a lease; Look4Rent is not an agency and not a party to your tenancy agreement.

What does Premium cost and what do I get?

Premium costs €29.99 per 4 weeks, including VAT — just under €7.50 a week. You see the contact details of every landlord straight away, and you get an email within 15 minutes when a home matching your saved search is listed, instead of once a day. You call or email the landlord yourself.

Can landlords really list for free?

Yes. Listing on Look4Rent is and stays free: list as many homes as you like without fees or commission. Interested tenants contact you directly and you choose your tenant yourself. Optionally, you can make a listing stand out with a paid feature.

Do I pay agency or registration fees?

No. Look4Rent charges no agency, registration, contract or administration fees. If anyone on the platform asks you for such fees, report it to us and, if you like, to the local council’s reporting point for unfair rental practices (meldpunt ongewenst verhuurgedrag).

How do I contact a landlord?

With Premium, the landlord’s contact details become visible. You call or email them directly and arrange a viewing between yourselves. Look4Rent is not involved in that.

Can I cancel Premium?

Yes, with one click in your account. Your first period lasts four weeks. After that your subscription continues for an indefinite period and you can cancel at any time with a notice period of at most one month. Cancelling costs nothing.

Can I change my mind within 14 days?

Yes. As a consumer you have a 14-day cooling-off period. If you withdraw within those 14 days, you get your money back. To withdraw, send us an email. There is no refund for not finding a home: you pay for access to the platform, not for a home.

Why are some listings at the top?

Landlords can pay to feature a listing for a few days. Featured listings are shown first and always carry the label Featured. After that come the newest homes. You can also sort by newest or by price yourself; featuring then plays no role.

Are landlords checked?

Not in advance. Listing is possible without an identity check. We do automatically compare photos with other listings to catch reused photos, a common scam trick, and each listing shows since when the landlord has been listing and how many homes they offer, so you can judge for yourself. We give no quality mark or approval: never pay in advance without a viewing, and report it to us if something seems off.

What should I do if a listing looks suspicious?

Never pay a deposit or rent before a viewing, and never transfer money to someone you have not met in person. If something is not right, report the listing to us; we take dubious listings offline.

Are the listings in English?

Most listings are written in Dutch by the landlords themselves. The key facts — price, size, rooms, interior and location — are shown in English on the search page. A browser translation tool works well for the description.
